Forced Evidence Explained
Five ghosts always reveal a specific evidence type regardless of difficulty. The Goryo only manifests through D.O.T.S. when no one is in the ghost room and a camera is being used, making D.O.T.S. its forced evidence. The Deogen gives a distinctive raspy-breath response through the Spirit Box, so Spirit Box is always present. The Moroi spreads a curse through the Spirit Box. The Hantu accelerates in cold temperatures, which requires Freezing Temperatures to always be active. The Obake always leaves behind its unique six-fingered fingerprint, making Ultraviolet its forced evidence. On Nightmare or Insanity, these đź”’ badges tell you which evidence cannot be hiding.
The Mimic and Fake Ghost Orbs
The Mimic is the only ghost with four evidence in practice. Its real evidence is Spirit Box, Ultraviolet, and Freezing Temperatures, but it always produces Ghost Orbs as a fake fourth indicator regardless of difficulty settings. Even on a custom run with zero evidence, The Mimic will still show Ghost Orbs. This tool marks Ghost Orbs as fake on Mimic's card with a yellow badge. On Nightmare difficulty, if you see Ghost Orbs alongside two other evidence, The Mimic becomes the prime suspect since only it can produce three visible evidence under those conditions.
Difficulty Mode Strategy
On Standard and Professional, all three evidence types are available and standard filtering works perfectly. On Nightmare, one evidence is randomly hidden, so the exclusion feature becomes more important than ever. Use forced evidence to anchor your deduction: if you find D.O.T.S., the ghost must be Goryo, Deogen, Thaye, Raiju, or one of several others. On Insanity, you are down to one evidence, making forced evidence and ghost behavior your primary tools. The difficulty selector adjusts tips and badges automatically to match your current game mode.
