How We Verify

A calculator is only useful if you can trust the number it gives you. This page explains, in concrete terms, how the 180 tools on MathGyro are built, tested, and kept current.

Our Verification Process

Every tool goes through the same four steps before it is published. First, we research the underlying formula or dataset in primary sources: scientific literature, official institutions, published standards, or the publisher's own store pages. Second, we recalculate reference examples by hand and compare them against the tool's output, independently of the code. Third, we localise the tool for four markets (United States, Turkey, Spain and Latin America, Brazil), adapting units, currencies, and legal parameters rather than merely translating text. Finally, we ship the tool together with an automated test file that pins its behaviour.

Automated Tests on Every Calculator

The site is backed by 181 automated test files that run against all 180 calculators before every release. Beyond checking the math, we use lock tests: real-world constants such as tax brackets, statutory ceilings, or exchange rates are pinned to their official values with tight tolerances, so a stale or mistyped number fails the build instead of reaching you. Where two tools share a model, cross-tool tests import both and compare their outputs, so related calculators cannot silently drift apart. When we change a constant, we first prove the lock catches the old value, then update it.

Keeping Data Current

Tools that depend on real-world data follow a maintenance calendar. Income tax brackets for Turkey, the United States, Spain, and Brazil are refreshed each January when official figures are published. The Turkish severance pay ceiling is updated twice a year, in January and July, from the official Treasury circular. Game currency prices and exchange rates are reviewed roughly quarterly against publishers' official stores. Pages built on such data state their verification period, so you can always see how fresh the numbers are.

Sources We Rely On

We prefer primary sources over aggregators: official institutions such as the WHO, the US IRS, the Turkish Revenue Administration, Spain's Agencia Tributaria, and Brazil's Receita Federal; published scientific formulas cited by author and year (for example Mifflin-St Jeor, Hume 1966, Naegele); engineering standards such as ASTM and IEC tables; and publishers' own store pages for game economies. Health-related tools cite the formula they implement directly on the page.

Corrections Policy

If you believe a result is wrong, write to [email protected]. We aim to respond within 48 hours. Confirmed errors are fixed with a new lock test so they cannot recur, and the page's "Last updated" date reflects the correction. We would rather publish a correction than defend a wrong number.
