How Does the Formula Work?

The Roblox tax calculator computes the 30% marketplace fee that Roblox deducts from all creator transactions. Every sale of game passes, developer products, clothing items, and limited item resales is subject to this flat 30% fee. The calculator works in two directions: enter a sale price to see your actual earnings, or enter your desired earnings to find the exact price to set.

Roblox Marketplace Fee: 30%

Sale Price → Earnings:
Earnings = floor(Sale Price × 0.70)
Tax = Sale Price − Earnings

Desired Earnings → Price:
Price = ceil(Earnings ÷ 0.70)

Examples:
100 R$ sale → 30 tax → 70 R$ earned
Want 100 R$? → Set price to 143 R$

How the 30% Fee Works

Roblox applies a flat 30% fee to every marketplace transaction. If you sell a game pass for 100 Robux, Roblox keeps 30 and you receive 70. The fee is calculated on the full sale price, and the result is floored to the nearest whole Robux since fractional Robux do not exist. This means very low prices (1-2 Robux) lose a proportionally larger amount due to rounding.

Reverse Calculator

The "I want to earn" mode solves the common developer question: if I want to receive exactly 100 Robux, what price should I set? The answer is 143 Robux (because floor(143 × 0.70) = 100). The calculator uses ceiling division to ensure you always receive at least your target amount. This is essential for pricing game passes and developer products correctly.

What the Fee Applies To

Game passes, developer products (in-game purchases), clothing items (shirts, pants, t-shirts), limited item resales on the marketplace, and avatar shop items all carry the 30% fee. Premium Payouts work differently — they are based on player engagement time rather than direct sales. Group-owned game revenue follows the same 30% fee structure, with the remaining 70% going to the group funds.

Bulk Sales

Use the quantity field to calculate earnings from multiple sales at the same price. If you sell 100 copies of a 50 Robux game pass, total revenue is 5,000 Robux with 1,500 going to Roblox tax and 3,500 to you. This helps developers project revenue from popular items and plan pricing strategies.

Pricing Strategy for Developers

Smart pricing accounts for the 30% fee from the start. If your target revenue is 100 Robux per sale, set the price to 143 rather than 100 and being surprised by the deduction. For items with round-number appeal, consider pricing at 142 (which yields 99 Robux) versus 143 (which yields 100) — the psychological impact of a lower display price may drive more sales even at a slightly lower margin. Group games face the same 30% fee, with the remaining 70% going to group funds before any further distribution to members.
